In short: After installing Nimagna, select the “Nimagna Camera” in your favorite video platform, e.g. Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Start Nimagna and add your content, e.g. a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation, images, videos, etc. Ensure that you're captured well by your camera, i.e. you're filling the entire frame of your camera. Now, the stage is yours and you can start presenting. You can also use Nimagna with multiple cameras. Nimagna supports USB and wireless webcams, or your mobile device as camera inputs, if those are available on your computer.

You can use Nimagna with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Google Hangouts, Hopin, Twitch, and most other video apps or streaming software. Nimagna is free during Beta with unlimited multi-camera usage. An unintrusive watermark is placed in the upper right corner of the output video. We’re launching paid plans later this year with the ability to remove the watermark and unlock additional features.

The Nimagna app currently runs on both Windows and Mac: Windows: Nimagna works on Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit systems with Intel® Core™ i5 processor, 8 GB RAM and Intel® Iris® Plus or Xe graphics. For optimal experience we recommend an Intel® Core™ i7 processor, 16 GB RAM and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 or better graphics. Mac: For Nimagna for Mac, you must have macOS 12.3 or later. You can choose from macOS Intel or macOS Apple Silicon installation of the Nimagna app. For macOS Intel, you must have at least an Intel® Core™ i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, and either an Intel® Iris® Plus or AMD Radeon™ PRO graphics card. We recommend macOS Apple Silicon for optimal experience and support all M1, M2, and M3 chips.

To check your system type and find out which installation to use (Apple Silicon or Intel): Open the Apple Menu (top left). Select About This Mac. In the Overview tab look for Processor or Chip and check if it says something with Intel or Apple, e.g. 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, or Apple M2.

The Nimagna App is a very sophisticated video production software that requires access files, devices and applications of your Mac. Apple takes good care of privacy and security and, thus, new apps require consent of the user to access those resources. The first time you use the Nimagna App you must allow MacOS to open the downloaded app and the app to make changes to your system to install the Nimagna Camera. The macOS permissions dialog will guide you through the necessary steps to Install the Nimagna Camera Grant access to your camera(s) This video shows the necessary steps: You can always review the permissions that you've given or declined and installation state by using Help -> Check macOS security and permissions.

For Windows users that have Norton 360 installed as an anti-virus and firewall protection solution, there might be warnings that show up on first use of Nimagna, because Nimagna communicates with various servers and is still quite an unknown program such that Norton considers it a risk: 👉 To use Nimagna, please select "More Options" and then "Always allow". Note: Such a warning shows up for MainApplication.exe and NimagnaService.exe, potentially multiple times. If you missed the above dialog, follow these steps to allow Nimagna in Norton 360: 1. Open Norton 360 and select "Settings" 2. In settings, select "Firewall" 3. In firewall settings, first select "Program Control", then select "Add" 4. Select "Program Files\Nimagna\Nimagna App\MainApplication.exe" 5. Under "Options", select "Allow always", confirm with "OK" 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with "Program Files\Nimagna\Nimagna App\NimagnaService.exe" After defining both firewall rules, the firewall's "Program Control" settings should show entries for both Nimagna App and Nimagna Service:

Audio is not transferred by the Nimagna Camera. You can select any of your audio sources separately in your video app or streaming software. For good audio quality, especially if you’re distancing yourself from your computer, we recommend using a conferencing speakerphone such as a Jabra Speak 510, or a wireless microphone like the RØDE Wireless GO.

You can use your presentation remote control as you would for a normal presentation. The Nimagna app will react to both Page-Down/Right-arrow key for next slide and Page-Up/Left-arrow key for previous slide. For a complete hands-free experience, Nimagna also supports gesture control without any presentation remote or clicker. If your presentation remote supports configuration, you can configure it to call up save shots: “1” for focusing on the content, “2” for focusing on the presenter and “3” for focusing on both content and presenter. “0” will toggle pausing and restarting the automatic director.

Currently, Nimagna has no built-in support for video recording. However, there is an easy solution to record the Nimagna feed to a video file: On macOS, you can use QuickTime Player to record a video: Select File -> New Movie recording... From the menu next to the recording button, select "Nimagna Camera" as camera and your audio device as microphone.

However, there is a recommended solution to record the Nimagna feed to a video file on Windows: On Windows, you can use OBS Studio to record a video: First, you have to install OBS Studio Configuration: On start up, configure OBS Studio to optimize for recording rather than streaming Select 1280x720 as Base and Output resolution, and select 30 frames per second In Controls -> Settings -> Output, select "MPEG-4 (.mp4)" as recording format Add video source to capture Nimagna output: In Sources, click the + button to add a source: Select "Video capture device": Confirm the "Create new" dialog with OK. In the following dialog, select "Nimagna Camera" as device: Ensure that the new source fills the entire canvas: Add audio source to capture microphone: In Sources, click the + button again to add another source: Select "Audio input capture": Confirm the "Create new" dialog with OK. In the following dialog, select your microphone device. Switch to the "Audio Mixer" tab to see the "Audio Input Cap" bar moving while you make some noise: Optional: Add another audio source to capture Nimagna audio: If your show contains a video with audio, you should capture the Nimagna audio output, too. First, play the video once to have Windows recognize Nimagna App as providing audio output. Then, add another audio input capture source and select "Application Audio Capture": In the following dialog, select "MainApplication.exe: Nimagna App ..." as the Window to be captured: Record a video: When ready, select "Start Recording" from the "Controls" tab to start the recording: Ensure to click on the Nimagna App again to have the correct focus for the storyboard control. Once done, select "Stop Recording" to end the recording.

You can currently use Nimagna with one or two cameras. Support for more cameras will be added in the future. While one camera is sufficient to start with, you can achieve more impressive and dynamic results with two cameras.

We recommend using an external webcam to have more freedom with camera placement and get higher quality video. Any external camera works with Nimagna, but depending on your space and setup, think about using a 78° or even 90° field-of-view camera. With limited space in your office, a 90° field-of-view camera is required, such as a Logitech Brio 4K, Dell UltraSharp WB7022, or a Razer Kiyo Pro.

In general, a laptop camera is sufficient to get started. Be aware that some laptop cameras have a limited resolution, lower light sensitivity or limited focal lengths which can affect the quality of the Nimagna experience. When using a laptop camera, please ensure that the camera is at or above eye level, e.g. by placing the laptop on a stand. For best results, we recommend to use an external USB webcam that supports at least HD resolution. This allows you to place the camera at a good position to capture you both sitting and standing.

Connect a second webcam as indicated by the product's installation manual, most probably using a USB cable. You can also use your mobile phone or tablet as a secondary camera. In Nimagna, use the camera configuration to select both your first and second camera and select the respective locations (left, front, right) for each. Now, Nimagna's AI-driven director will automatically select the camera you're looking at. Note: We recommend to have an angle of about 30-45 degrees between the cameras from the point you're presenting. A highly recommended starting point is one camera in front of you capturing your full body while standing, and a second camera on the left or right that is capturing your upper body from a closer distance. To fix your second camera, use a sturdy tripod or table stand, with a mobile/tablet holder. When setting up the second camera at some distance from your computer, a USB extension cable might be required. We recommend to use a USB 3.0 extension cable.

Windows: To connect your mobile phone or tablet camera, you'll need to install an app that lets you stream the mobile camera's video feed to your computer. Depending on the mobile app, you can connect over a fast Wi-Fi connection or via USB. Nimagna doesn’t provide an own mobile app (yet) but works with almost all apps on the market, for example with NDI HX camera app, Camo, Sienna NDICam or DroidCam. As these are third-party apps, please check out their functions before making a purchase. Mac: To connect your iPhone, read here. For other mobile phones, follow the instructions above.

On Mac, you can use the Continuity Camera that automatically connects your iPhone to your Mac. All iPhone models introduced after 2018 are supported running iOS 16 or later. Mac's need to run macOS Venture or later. Here's how you need to set it up: Make sure that your iPhone trusts your Mac. Connect your iPhone to your computer, select Trust when prompted and punch in your passcode. Make sure that you are logged into the same Apple ID on both your iPhone and Mac using two-factor authentication. Mount your iPhone to a small tripod or stand and point your rear camera to you in landscape orientation. Continuity Camera needs to be enabled on your iPhone under Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff. Both iPhone and Mac need to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. When Continuity Camera is on and your iPhone is near, the Nimagna App automatically detects your iPhone camera and allows you to select it either as a camera for the show or a content camera. We recommend a presentation stage with a first camera capturing your full-body pose from the front and a second camera that focuses on your upper body or face from a 30° to 45° angle on the left or right. Mount your first webcam for a frontal view of your entire body such that it is approximately on eye level or slightly below, e.g. on top of an external screen in front of you. To get fully captured, you have to stand about 3 meters (10 feet) away from your camera to become fully visible. Configure this camera as frontal camera. Using a sturdy tripod or a table stand with a mobile/tablet holder, set up your second camera around 1 meter (3-4 feet) away from your standing position on the left or right. As with the first camera, ensure that the second camera is approximately on eye level. Ensure that both cameras are activated within the Nimagna camera setup and that the location (left, front, right) is set up correctly. Now, Nimagna's AI driven director will automatically select the camera you're facing at while presenting. For good storytelling, you can turn away from the front camera when getting to important pieces of information during your pitch. In such situations, look at the second camera to make a close-up appearance in the Nimagna feed. To keep your position, a small marker on the floor helps to remember your primary presenting position.

Within Nimagna's camera setup, you can select the location of each activated camera, e.g. left, front, or right. Note that the Nimagna app automatically puts you on the virtual stage in the best way, irrespective of whether you are sitting in front of your computer (and the camera just sees your face or upper body) or standing up and freely moving around (and the camera sees your entire body). Note that, as soon as you leave your camera's frame, Nimagna can't keep track of your movements anymore. For best results, make sure that you are occupying most of the camera frame in the camera configuration preview to be appropriately scaled within Nimagna and that neither feet nor your head gets cut off.

In general, make sure your cameras are at or above eye level. Mounting one external webcam on top of your external monitor works perfectly. For convenient setup of a second webcam or mobile device, use a tripod, mini tripod, or a table rigging system, e.g. Elgato multi-mount system. You can get sturdy tripods with mobile or tablet holders for under $50.

The distance highly depends on your camera. We recommend sitting positions that show your gestures, i.e. a hip-shot. To perform a full-body stage-like show you’ll need to have a distance from your camera of 3 meters (10 feet) with a 90° field-of-view camera, or 4 meters (13 feet) with a 78° field-of-view camera.

Make sure that you are occupying most of the frame in the camera configuration preview to be appropriately scaled within Nimagna and that neither feet nor your head gets cut off. During the show, you can of course move your head, upper body or move around in your room.

Troubleshooting After installing Nimagna, you need to restart all video and streaming apps before the Nimagna Camera appears as a video source option. If this still doesn’t work, restart your computer. macOS only The Nimagna Camera requires specific permissions to be installed correctly. Check the "Security and Permissions" dialog.

Some video meeting platforms show a mirrored self-view by default. But don’t worry, your audience will see the video in the correct orientation. Video mirroring can be turned off in Zoom, Teams, Meet etc. so that your preview matches what the audience is seeing. Within the Nimagna app the output video preview can be mirrored, too, but this does not have an effect on what your audience sees.

Make sure that you have enough light and that your face is evenly illuminated without unwanted shadows. You will get the best output if you have a bright light source or natural light behind the camera. A ceiling light might cast shadows under your eyes and your face. Make sure that you position yourself slightly in front of the ceiling light. If you want to buy special lights for video creation, have a look at video podcast lights, such as ring or area lights.

Nimagna uses advanced AI technology to separate you from your background. This means that you can use it pretty much from anywhere. However, if you experience some flickering around you or a halo around your head, you might have to remove very colorful things in the background of your camera image or have better lighting in your room.

If you sit close to your computer, the microphone from your laptop or webcam should be sufficient. Use a dedicated USB microphone to get even better quality while seated. To get better audio quality while you are standing up and thus are further away from the computer, you might want to use a conferencing speakerphone, such as the Speak 510, or a wireless Lavalier microphone, such as the RØDE Lavalier GO together with the RØDE Wireless GO.

In the free version you can’t remove the watermark. Upgrade to a paid plan to remove the Nimagna watermark.

Make sure that you are appropriately framed in your camera. Restart the camera configuration and observe the silhouettes in the camera images. You should be within the grey outline to not cutoff your head or legs during video creation.

Simply clicking in the camera preview will toggle the camera, or toggle the button in the camera list. If it’s red or you can't hit the OK button, you need to choose the location first in the lower right.

This typically has to do with how your cameras are placed and setup. If you are working with your laptop camera, make sure that your laptop is placed on some books or a small rack to raise the camera to the right height. The camera needs to be at or above eye level. This is also important if you are using an external webcam.

This is a feature only available to Pro, Business, Education, Enterprise Zoom accounts. Please make sure that both you as a presenter and your audience adheres to these Zoom meeting guidelines: Put the meeting window in full-screen mode. Use speaker mode. Meet Zoom's bandwidth requirements. HD enabled in Settings in the Zoom desktop client or mobile app. For setting HD enabled, make sure that you enable it in both Personal and Account settings: Personal > Settings > In Meeting (Advanced) : enable "Group HD video" Admin > Account Settings > In Meeting (Advanced) : enable "Group HD video" For further information, please review Zoom's support article on "Enabling HD video for Zoom Meetings".

In order to insert Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into Nimagna, you have to have PowerPoint installed. Then, simply drag the PowerPoint file into the Storyboard or browse for it in the "Add Presentation" selection.
